Cure Insomnia with Natural Sleep AidsMany people suffer from insomnia. Insomnia is a condition that causes you to have trouble either falling asleep, or staying asleep once you do. There are many reasons why people suffer from this problem. Often, we need to get up a lot earlier for work than our natural body clock will allow. This means that you end up staying up late and waking up early. When you get less sleep on a regular basis, you will end up having a hard time sleeping even when you want to.Our culture now is all about entertainment with lights and sound. Where once we were contented to read a book in a quiet corner of our home, we now watch loud, action-packed television shows or go to booming music concerts. This hasn't helped our sleep patterns. In fact, the overstimulation we receive on a daily basis makes this a much harder task. Many people have found that they need the help of a sleep aid in order to fall asleep. Over the counter and prescription medication for this has a bad rap, though. They are often very addictive and cause more problems than they help. Instead of using these methods, there are natural sleep aids that do a much better job. They also have a better reputation and aren't known for being addictive or harmful to your health. One natural sleep aid you can do is actually to alter your diet. Some people ingest foods and drinks that actually keep them up – without even knowing it. For example, caffeine has the amazing effect of keeping you awake. Even if you reserve your caffeine intake for only your morning latte, this can still keep you up later in the day. Also be aware that other foods and drinks have this drug, including chocolate and most tea. Try to eat foods that will help you sleep. Turkey is notorious for this because of their high levels of Tryptophan. People have also had an easier time falling asleep when they drink a glass of warm milk. Just pop it into the microwave for about a minute and this will be sure to help. You can also add a bit of honey to the milk for added sleep-inducing benefits. Besides food, there are natural vitamins and minerals that can help you sleep as well. For example, Valerian is a very effective herb that helps many people fall asleep easier. You can find this in many nutrition departments of your drug store. They often come in pill form and are easy to take. Kava is another good herd that helps people get relaxation and rest. This can usually be found in pill form in your drug store as well. As you can see, there are many healthy and natural methods to help you fall asleep. None of these work for everyone, though. Your best bet is to try one method at a time. For example, you could cut caffeine out of your diet and see how that works. If you still have trouble falling asleep, then you might want to move on to other methods stated above. Once you find a method that works, you will be having a much better night's sleep. With extra sleep, you will be much healthier in your everyday life. A lot of stress and other health problems are often linked to lack of sleep. Just adding a few extra hours of this restorative action each night can improve your life dramatically. Before you resort to the over the counter and prescription medications, definitely work with natural sleep aids to see what works for you. |
